Digital inclusion action planning template
What is the tool and what does it aim to do?
The action planning template will help you plan for the longer term and build in continuous improvement to your digital inclusion delivery.
It will support you to take stock of the work you’ve completed, what you were hoping to do in this time and any new learning/actions that have emerged. You can then prioritise these actions into a roadmap to support your future planning.
What you’ll need to be able to complete the tool / preparation required
A copy of the completed Digital Inclusion Canvas activity from the co-design session 5, so you can see all the activity planned for the model of digital inclusion support before testing and prototyping this in practice.
The template can be used on an interactive whiteboard (like Miro, Mural, Teams Whiteboard, etc) or printed out large scale, so participants can add post it notes if the activity is taking place in person.
How to use the tool
Gather a range of digital inclusion actions on two different colours of post-it notes:
- For colour 1 = Capture the actions from the Digital Inclusion Canvas that you are planning to test and implement (or learnings from the model if you have already tested this in practice).
- For colour 2 = Capture the actions you are hoping to take in the future – based on the work you’ve done already, any feedback from users and new information?
Now review these actions based on the sections of the template map. Looking at all of the actions, where do they fit in an action plan/roadmap? Now? Next? Or later? Potentially even never?
Now = actions in the ‘Now’ category mean you have all the resources and information needed to put these plans into place.
Next = actions in the ‘Next’ category mean it will take more time to get the skills, tools and people in place to be able to take action.
Later = actions in the ‘Later’ category mean there are some dependencies. They are larger or more long-term actions that need more preparation, or things that would benefit from being done at a later date
Optional category – ‘Not the focus’ = any actions that you have decided are not possible to take forward or do not seem like a useful thing to focus on at the moment based on all the information and feedback you have.
Tips for using the tool
If you already have delivery work that is well under way and you have already started measuring the success of your digital inclusion work, including gathering feedback from users, this will help you to think about what actions are required and be ready to make improvements.
